V Rising Free Download Unfitgirl It’s hard to explain a vampire-themed online base-building competitive open world survival action RPG. That’s why, for V Rising developer Stunlock Studios, the priority was to let people play as soon as possible. Since launching through Steam Early Access on May 17, in a notably complete state, V Rising has grown in popularity day after day. It hit close to 50,000 players within a few hours of being released, and as of May 23, has a 24-hour peak of more than 150,000. For context, more people have played V Rising today than the Steam versions of Grand Theft Auto V or Elden Ring. “I absolutely did not expect this many people”, said Stunlock’s community manager Jeremy Fielding just as V Rising hit 80,000 players and sold 500,000 copies overall. “I don’t think anybody expected it to be quite this big.” V Rising begins with the player, as a fully customisable vampire, waking up after a century-spanning sleep, very weak and in need of blood. But what begins as a survival action game in the vein of Diablo soon turns into a fully open world adventure with base-building, not to mention co-op and versus multiplayer. As a result, it’s a sprawling, multi-genre beast that takes in huge swathes of the modern MMO landscape and repurposes them. Stunlock has been working on V Rising for around three years but only revealed it in May 2021 – and not many people seemed to pay attention. “It’s been a slow ramp-up”, laughed Fielding. “A very small company with a brand new IP? It took a lot of people a long time to start to take notice.” UNFITGILR.COM SEXY GAMES

That changed as soon as they could actually play V Rising. “We really started to get a lot of attention when we went into closed beta, when people really got an opportunity to get their hands on the game,” Fielding said. “I think that’s when they started paying attention, which makes sense. “People just want to play. When you’re just hearing about the concept it’s really hard to grasp what it is,” Fielding continued. “We have a fairly unique game that’s kind of hard to explain – we say dark fantasy vampire survival action RPG – and when you say that there’s a million different things your brain can do with it. I think it doesn’t really process until you see it or feel it.” V Rising has slowly but surely built a strong community since the beta was released, with some of its more dedicated members even answering new players’ questions while Fielding is helping the other tens of thousands. “These people are happy to be here and happy to defend us and speak up for us and spread information for us because we made a good place for them to be,” he said. “I’m super thankful to all of our community right now. I know that sounds super cheesy but it really does make it so much easier.” Keeping in touch with and listening to the community is one of the ways Stunlock plans to take V Rising forward. Fielding said he and his team have already been asked why the game is in Early Access at all, as it feels pretty complete, but given its wide array of genres and mechanics, having people play V Rising is almost a necessary step towards a full launch.

A Gothic Open-World

Explore a vast world teeming with mythical horrors and danger. Travel through lush forests, open countryside, and dark caverns to discover valuable resources, meeting friends and foes alike along the way. Traverse the world with vampire comrades or hunt solo as you pillage villages, raid bandits, and delve into the domains of supernatural beasts. “We know that there are a million base systems in the game that can all expand in infinite directions,” Fielding said. “We’re leaving it a little bit open as we see how people interact with our systems because players will do anything. Especially if you give them an open world game, how they play will always be different than what you expect. So we’re planning to adapt to that.” Stunlock does have certain plans already. Notably, it wants to expand and improve V Rising’s end game: “But there’s so many other ways that we can work on that going forward,” Fielding said. “The game design philosophy is that every system in the game should affect every other system, so we want to observe and adapt and fill out the scope going forward.” Working on those new systems may need to wait a little while though, because Fielding says, “right now we’re just making sure everything’s going smoothly.” V Rising’s launch day was a rollercoaster, as a small delay added extra stress for the team before they could finally release their game. “The combination of people being both disappointed [about a delay] and incredibly excited leads to a pretty hectic atmosphere.” “The combination of people being both disappointed and incredibly excited leads to a pretty hectic atmosphere,” Fielding said. “It was this amazing turn of people being incredibly upset and frustrated, then the game goes live, it suddenly gets a lot quieter, and then ten, 20 minutes later people just start raving about the game. It’s an amazing feeling, seeing people love something that you put so much work into.” The team spent the next few hours sharing their concurrent player numbers, with everyone racing to post the latest milestone. “It was a super exciting night,” Fielding said. “I was at the battle station, just trying to make sure everything was going smoothly, but a lot of people in the studio got to relax and watch. They were watching streams and everybody was cheering every time we hit a milestone. We had it up on a big TV.” Stunlock thankfully went in over-prepared where servers are concerned, thanks to its previous game Battlerite also being an unexpected success and thus having early connectivity issues. “Even so, we still got too many,” Fielding said, “but we don’t expect it to be a problem.” V Rising also lets players host their own servers, which has obviously helped with player load, as Fielding points out that, surprisingly, most of its servers are player-run. This all feeds back into the variety of V Rising, “because I think one of the coolest things about our games is our servers’ flexibility and the different ways we offer people to edit their experience to make it their own,” Fielding said.

Fear the light – Rule the night

Stick to the shadows during the daytime, or the burning sunlight will turn you to ashes. Roam the night and prey on your victims in the darkness. As a vampire, you must quench your thirst for blood while planning your strategies around the day and nighttime. This is another area he plans on observing, so Stunlock can see exactly what players want and build the rest of their game around that. The developer isn’t ready to talk about when these updates will arrive, partly because it doesn’t really know what they are yet. It’s worth remembering that, despite so much happening and so many players now invested in the future of V Rising, the game has only been in Early Access for a few days. Stunlock is committed to V Rising for the long haul though. “There’s a lot of really cool little things in the game that I think it just needs more of, and we’re planning to do that,” Fielding said. “I think that when we do get to full release people will really realise what our intention is in this being a fully fleshed-out experience. And then after that, there’s so many things we can still do. “It’s such a cool thing about the genre. There’s so many ways to expand on your systems and make them better. It’s just such an incredible long-term view that we can do.” V Rising slinked out of its coffin and into early access this week, joining the survival game ranks and the top of the Steam best sellers list. The comparisons with Valheim were instantaneous, and not entirely unwarranted. Both are novel early access survival romps boasting plenty of distinct twists that had great launches. But they also approach survival from very different angles. MotoGP 22 Switch NSP

Despite Valheim’s escalating invasions and massive bosses, it’s a fairly relaxing experience—if you want it to be—where you can just potter around with your mates and construct a cosy Viking town. In my first Valheim session, I built a massive longhouse and spent ages trying to make the perfect chimney. I raised some pigs. I befriended some bees. In V Rising, I spent my first moments traipsing around the graveyard re-killing the undead, and then I moved to a forest where I fed on the living to fuel my awful unlife, murdered my way through hordes of warriors and poachers, started work on my ominous castle and made a lovely little blood altar. There’s plenty of stuff to craft and build, but V Rising is a more aggressive strain of survival game, blending the perspective and combat sensibilities of isometric action-RPGs with a familiar crafting and gathering loop. Fights are brisk slaughters, and right off the bat you’ve got a magical ranged attack and a supernatural dash, as well as the ability to regenerate health from your stolen blood pool. When your foes are close to death, that’s when it’s dinner time. That’ll refill your blood pool, but there’s more to a meal than quantity. Blood from different enemies can have different effects on you, and there’s also the question of quality. So animals can give you boons like greater speed or resistance to the devastating impact of sunlight, but you’ll need to feed on creatures with better quality plasma to get the higher tier bonuses.

Raise your Castle

Gather resources and discover ancient techniques to gain dark powers. Use your newly acquired knowledge to build a castle where you can store your loot and grow your army of darkness. Personalize your domain, exhibit your vampiric style and make sure to craft coffins for servants and friends. Strengthen your castle to protect your treasure hoard from vampire rivals. It’s a novel way of emulating cooking systems in other survival games, or at least the benefits of them, for a character who drinks blood instead of munching on bread. And, frankly, it’s a lot more fun to drain enemies of their blood instead of waiting around for my campfire or stove to incinerate some chow. Get caught out of the shade and within a few seconds you’ll start to get a bit crisp. The vampiric curse also inspires V Rising’s approach to environmental hazards. Typically, survival games make you vulnerable to extreme weather or, even more often, the night itself. It’s the worst time—when visibility is at its lowest and monsters are ravenous. But this time you’re the monster, and thus the night is your friend. It’s the sun you’ve got to worry about. Get caught out of the shade and within a few seconds you’ll start to get a bit crisp.

Since half of the game is like this, it’s a major obstacle, but not insurmountable. You can wait it out, preferably in your coffin, since any spots of shade are likely to vanish as the sun continues its journey across the sky, but if you don’t mind being kept on your toes you can still get a fair bit done during the daylight hours, especially if you’re hanging out in the forest, using the trees for shade. Eventually you’ll find other ways of countering it like, as mentioned above, eating some high quality animals. The sun really gave me some trouble during a hunt when I was searching for an alpha wolf, one of the boss-like encounters that give you new vampiric powers. Unlike Valheim, it proved to be an understated confrontation against a wolf that was only slightly bigger and tougher than normal. The real challenge was that he only appeared in his den during daylight hours. It was the sun that kept killing me. But after a few failures, I got to know the den pretty well, and where the shadows were at specific times of day, allowing me to plant myself in a safe spot and await my prey. While the wolf itself was a bit anticlimactic, I have encountered some larger, tougher beasties. Giant stone guardians and ents chill in the forest where I’ve made my home, and so far I’ve been unable to dent them. They’re just too beefy, too high level. It’s worth noting that levelling up is not a matter of gaining XP, with the number instead relating to the power of your gear. To increase your level, you’ve got to craft new armour, weapons and accessories. MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD

The crafting is bog-standard stuff and doesn’t exactly scream “lord of the undead”, but I do dig the way that its ARPG sensibilities have affected gathering. Instead of getting a very boring axe to chop down trees with, for instance, V Rising gives you twin axes, with an aesthetic that suggests they’re really designed for carving a swath through your enemies. They aren’t, though. I mean, you can use them in fights, but they’re still really for murdering trees. The thing is, you don’t really chop them. You fight them. The animation suggests battle, not gathering, and while the result is the same, I much prefer it this way. You also get loads of resources with every strike, and while your crafting and construction projects will demand a lot from you, in the early game you’re only ever a few swings away from getting resources in their hundreds. Like the combat, it’s all pleasantly brisk. I’m still really just starting out. My castle is just a few walls with some junk inside it, though I did choose to build inside some ancient ruins, which gives the rickety structure a lot more gravitas. I’ve got some more vampiric powers, too, like the ability to transform into a wolf, which makes travelling across the map a bit less of a hassle, but there are a lot more to find. V Rising kept me playing all night—which I’m suffering for terribly today—and I’m actually happy that the Valheim comparisons were a bit exaggerated. I adore Valheim, but it already does exactly what I want from a survival game of its type. This is something different, but potentially just as compelling. I’ve only played solo so far, but I’ve got a co-op date coming up and can’t wait to drain the world dry with a bud in tow.
