Five Dates Free Download Unfitgirl Lockdown in 2020 has undoubtedly forced us – as a society – to rethink a few things. Gone are the simple pleasures of attending a concert or a sports game, and even the anxiety-inducing dating scene has largely migrated to the online world. With this in mind, Wales Interactive has concocted a surprisingly funny, authentic dating sim with Five Dates, an interactive live-action comedy that rewards multiple playthroughs, but ultimately leaves us wondering who its intended audience is. Five Dates follows Vinny, a London-based millennial who jumps headfirst into the world of online dating in the midst of the COVID-19 UK lockdown. With the support of his friend Callum, he meets a handful of women over video chat, and over the course of the game must whittle these down to just one (provided he doesn’t completely mess it up, of course). The ‘gameplay’, if we can really call it that, is limited to making decisions via dialogue options, some of which simply move the conversation along, and others having a genuine impact on the overall outcome of Vinny’s dates. You have roughly 5-10 seconds to make your dialogue choices, though you can choose to have the game pause during these sections via the options. We didn’t find this particularly necessary, as the game cleverly fills these moments with back-and-forth dialogue while you make your choice. UNFITGILR.COM SEXY GAMES
A single run through the story takes roughly 1 hour, but with a total of 766 possible scenes to view, there’s more than enough incentive to go back and start again. The good news is that when you do start from scratch, you can easily skip through any scenes you’ve already viewed; the only downside to this is you can easily skip right into a dialogue choice without knowing exactly what it is you’re responding to. The acting from the assembled cast is more or less spot-on; they do their best with what they’re given, though there are certainly a few cringe-inducing moments here and there. Vinny himself is a decent character to follow, whose apprehension at joining the online dating world is endearing. The five women available for dates all display very distinct personalities, and – much like the real world – it’s almost impossible to determine how they might react to your dialogue choices. The star of the show, though, has to be Callum. As Vinny’s best friend, his brutal takedowns of Vinny are often hilarious, and he’s a genuine scene-stealer throughout.
A completely live-action romantic comedy, directed by Paul Raschid (The Complex)
Considering how quickly Five Dates was conceptualised and developed, the overall execution of the story is commendable. Having said that, it’s a shame there’s no option here to flip things around and have a woman protagonist join the app to date five men in addition to Vinny. We appreciate this would effectively double the amount of work required, but we have to wonder who exactly Five Dates is aimed at. As it is, the entire premise feels like a throwaway side-story shoved into a Richard Curtis rom-com to simply appease the men in the audience. It’s a fun little distraction, but ultimately not an experience that’s going to stick with you for long.In Five Dates, you control Vinny’s choices surrounding everything from setting up your online profile to picking out which woman you want to go on a date with. You can only choose three out of the five matches you get (because going on more dates means paying for “Premium” app prices). Once you go on a date with each of those three girls, you then pick two to go on a second date with. Depending on how the first date went, they can either accept or decline your request for a second date. Eventually, if the second date goes well, you can ask your chosen lady out on a third, and hopefully, you can move on out of the app and start dating for real (even if only virtually because of the pandemic). Empires of the Undergrowth
You get little nuggets of hilarious back-and-forths between Vinny and his best mate Callum in between dates, which amps up the fun factor of the whole experience. The choices you make with Callum don’t really impact the game’s outcome too much, but it’s still a refreshing change of pace for when you need to let off some steam.Obviously, the narrative of this full-motion video (FMV) game will depend entirely on the choices you make with every date. You can either hit it off with your top pick or fail miserably, but what impressed me most about Five Dates is that the acting is so darn good that it actually makes you believe that the choice you make is the real story. Of course, playing it again using different choices will have a different turn of events, but that’s entirely up to you. You can go through the game picking the choices you would genuinely make IRL, or you can just find the “correct” answer by getting a feel of the woman’s vibe. ‘Five Dates’ was released for Windows PC and Mac on November 17, 2020 (Publisher: Wales Interactive ; available in English). It is now also playable on Playstation, Xbox, Switch and mobile devices. In this interactive FMV story, you control a young man who is trying his luck with a dating app during the corona pandemic. We experience his experiences with it in the form of several webcam videos, in which small dialogue decisions have to be made again and again. In the test, we take a closer look at how entertaining the end product is.
Over 7 hours of filmed footage, the most amount of FMV footage in any game
The story is quickly explained: The lockdown is affecting 27-year-old Vinny and he finally wants a relationship. Due to the pandemic, he feels compelled to use a dating app to find contacts. Much to the delight of his buddy Callum, who supports him in this endeavor and always wants to know how it went after every date. Before starting the venture, three interests must be selected (e.g. music or culture), as well as the professional direction, which is never really deepened, and the zodiac sign. This information occasionally plays a negligible role. The app suggests five dates for Vinny. Regardless of the previous selection, it is always the same five proposals from which he (actually the player) chooses three. A short date with each lady of the heart follows soon after. After a chat with Callum, two favorites are chosen and we send them an invite for a second date. And yes, if the first one went unfavorably, such an invitation could be rejected. After that, Vinny is only allowed to send out one last invitation. If he is convincing in the final interview, the lovebirds leave the app and the FMV dating adventure has an open happy ending. The video dates are quite varied and range from simple small talk to short board games (“Truth or Duty”, “I have never…”). The characters are also very different. There is, for example, the well-known social media influencer Paige, who initially seems reserved and reveals little about herself, the outwardly tough lawyer Grace with a weakness for cuisine, or the nurse Shaina, who still lives with her family and professionally, especially in these times, has hardly any time to breathe. Unfortunately, there is not much to say about the gameplay. There are around half a dozen decisions to be made on every date. Sometimes the conversation can take a different course and some dialogue decisions are taken up again later (for example, the choice of preferred alcohol can lead to a conversation about a suitable cocktail, which may then play a role again later). The funny conversations with Buddy Callum are also not free of decisions, although the number here is significantly smaller. Unfortunately, there is no way to interact independently outside of the webcam chats. The possibility of researching on the computer or smartphone could have brought additional dialogue options, for example. The option is missing, instead Callum provides us with all the information. Due to the limited interaction possibilities and the few real consequences, it is questionable whether ‘Five Dates’ is actually a dating sim. To me it was more like a rather fun episodic story with choices and some nice characters. You accompany Vinny and guide his decisions a bit without changing your personality drastically.’Five Dates’ comes from the young British writer and director Paul Raschid, who some of you may remember for the underwhelming ‘The Complex’. In contrast to the dark FMV thriller, the dating game does without exaggerated drama. It’s really just about getting to know the possible lady of your heart well enough to look for a more personal contact away from the dating platform. Whether it then works in real life is not the subject of ‘Five Dates’.
Multi-optional storytelling with 10 different outcomes
In any case, visually it is very simple: In the end, we only see what the webcam sees and the image quality is kept correspondingly simple. Elaborate camera technology would not have made sense and a more complex indie video production would undoubtedly have been quite cumbersome in times of COVID restrictions. Five Dates’ was written pretty much during the peak of the COVID pandemic, which is briefly discussed every now and then. After social contacts were often severely restricted during this time, the idea of an FMV dating game is probably not wrong.
At the same time, it can hardly be overlooked that the concept inevitably came about at very short notice. The choices are very manageable. Few dialogue options are crucial. If you also want more than about 70 minutes of playing time (we only get to know three of five sweethearts and only one of them better), you have to start several runs. The first time there are just 25% of all scenes to see. The course of the dates is not designed for dramatic turns. Rather, they are fun video chat conversations of everyday nature, where there can only occasionally (not always) be a small surprise. I liked Vinny and his buddy Callum. The five women also had one or two interesting personalities. Acting-wise, the FMV game is okay too.ELEX II
If you’re just looking for a nice pastime, like conversation in games, and don’t need an interactive challenge, you might be right here. Aside from the bland gameplay, I had fun with it. In terms of cast, there are at least two more well-known names in Mandip Gill (known for playing Yasmin Khan in ‘Doctor Who’) and Georgia Hirst (Torvi in ’Vikings’). However, the somewhat more well-known musician Sinéad Harnett, who cuts a very good figure as Paige, is also there. In general, I found the cast to be appropriate, although Taheen Modak’s (Vinny’s) body language could be a bit contradictory at times, and Georgia Hirst as a tough lawyer only partially convinced me. But that is undoubtedly also a matter of taste. Unfortunately there are no German subtitles. Good knowledge of English is therefore recommended.
