Visually, we encounter a happy game, which brought me a smile or two, especially in the first few hours. The processes and the work of the little men are just too cute. I became curious about the title due to the gameplay’s supposed similarity to Factorio . Ultimately, I have to admit that Factorio fascinates me more. But Factory Town has its very own qualities and is ideal for relaxed game sessions in which you might just want to switch off. Furthermore, the game reminds me of a much older title, namely the settlers. The premise of the game is simple which is to build and grow a town. Not an original concept, and not one that does not have a lot of competition that does this well. Factory Town does a good job of setting itself apart by a fairly novel concept of using automation which also is not a new concept. You start off with workers, who happily collect trees, rocks, and most other resources. They then run it over to a storage or production building. Super basic right? Add some footpaths and they about their business a little fast. Still kind of basic right?

Well, then the game says add some chutes, which are simple wooden slides that take the resource a fair distance so the workers don’t have to run anywhere. They’re simply gathering dropping it into the chute, increasing your rate of harvest considerably. Before we get into how crazy this gets, what are these products for? Money. Lots and lots of money. Well materials for building, but mostly money and happiness. To grow your town, you need money, happiness, and resources. You can only have so many workers per housing level, and only so many houses per Town Hall level. So, the things you make goes to markets and storage. The houses buy the goods, giving you money and they are happy. Then you can buy upgrades for more workers, which also means they want more stuff. Different things give you different kinds of currency, so you need yellow, red, blue, and purple coins. Going back to the automation, now you are growing your happy little industrious town, but they want more. You can ignore needs, so you won’t be penalized when you cut off their access to grain to make a farm more efficient, but it might prevent your next upgrade if your overall happiness is not high enough. You’ll eventually get access to conveyors, mine carts, wagons, pipes, etc. This also brings in logic blocks, computer blocks, and it just gets kinda crazy but not in an overwhelming way. Usually by the time you want to move things faster without a traffic jam, you’ve researched a means to do so. Research requires finished goods, and money, so you have to plan your production for this. At the time I’m writing this, I am just getting to magic crafting, which is a whole new beast and I cannot wait to dig into it further. For Early Access, Factory Town comes out strong. It has a few bugs, and UI things that I expect to be fleshed out, but for what’s there, the game has been stable, fun, engaging, and constantly scanning my production lines to find ways to make it better. As it stands, the complexity, but ease of access sets this game apart, and is a great addition to the genre. My only minor complaint and I would not even call it that, is that there is no mode that makes the land a little more, alive. No monsters to use those spell books you craft, no animals to catch meaning your pastures can make any animal product you want, unlike farms that require you to find that resource first. With that said, there is enough going on that I can do without tower defense elements.
Factory Town is a little bit of a Factory game like Factorio, Satisfactory, or Little Big Workshop, and a little bit of a citybuilder. You build products as in a factory game, and your houses consume them. Item consumption gives you money or research points, adds to the growth of your houses, and makes your population happier. Your main challenge is building the basic items you need to build everything else, i.e. the conveyor belts, rails, and parts needed for vehicles and buildings, and building the minimum required items to reach the next tech level. So, you might need to make 25 Antidotes to advance, and you’ll leave Antidote production up when you’re done, earning you income and citizen happiness. The main problem is that there aren’t a lot of serious cash sinks in the game. Once you’ve got a steady income of one of the currencies (yellow / red / blue / purple coins), you’re pretty much set for that currency. You’ll produce it far, far faster than you spend it, and there are no ongoing expenses. The main challenge is typically getting a basic income stream for that type set up in the first place. Purple, for example, requires that you produce and sell magic items, which are fairly late-game, so you’re locked out of anything that costs purple currency until you can make those magic items.

- Open the Start menu (Windows ‘flag’ button) in the bottom left corner of the screen.
- At the bottom of the Start menu, type Folder Options into the Search box, then press the Enter key.
- Click on the View tab at the top of the Folder Options window and check the option to Show hidden files and folders (in Windows 11, this option is called Show hidden files, folders, and drives).
- Click Apply then OK.
- Return to the Start menu and select Computer, then double click Local Disk (C:), and then open the Program Files folder. On some systems, this folder is called ‘Program Files(x86)’.
- In the Program Files folder, find and open the folder for your game.
- In the game’s folder, locate the executable (.exe) file for the game–this is a faded icon with the game’s title.
- Right-click on this file, select Properties, and then click the Compatibility tab at the top of the Properties window.
- Check the Run this program as an administrator box in the Privilege Level section. Click Apply then OK.
- Once complete, try opening the game again

- First you will need YUZU Emulator. Download it from either UNFITGIRL, .. Open it in WinRar, 7ZIP idk and then move the contents in a folder and open the yuzu.exe.
- There click Emulation -> Configure -> System -> Profile Then press on Add and make a new profile, then close yuzu
Inside of yuzu click File -> Open yuzu folder. This will open the yuzu configuration folder inside of explorer.
- Create a folder called “keys” and copy the key you got from here and paste it in the folder.
- For settings open yuzu up Emulation -> Configure -> Graphics, Select OpenGL and set it to Vulkan or OpenGL. (Vulkan seems to be a bit bad atm) Then go to Controls and press Single Player and set it to custom
- Then Press Configure and set Player 1 to Pro Controller if you have a controller/keyboard and to Joycons if Joycons. Press Configure and press the exact buttons on your controller After you’re done press Okay and continue to the next step.
- Download any ROM you want from UNFITGIRL, .. After you got your File (can be .xci or .nsp) create a folder somewhere on your PC and in that folder create another folder for your game.
- After that double-click into yuzu and select the folder you put your game folder in.
- Lastly double click on the game and enjoy it.
